 Ohio General Assembly Affirms Support of Fatherhood Commission

Thanks to the phone calls, emails and letters from people throughout Ohio, the General Assembly included the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood in the biennial budget.  During the budget reconciliation process Governor Kasich, Speaker Batchelder and President Niehaus all agreed that the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood was making a difference and should continue to be funded.  The budget allocates $1,000,000 for the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood over the next two years.

 The budget bill (HB 153) made three changes to the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood statue:

  1. Governor appoints the Executive Director and sets his salary;
  2.  Executive Director reports to Director of ODJFS; and
  3.  Annual report includes an evaluation of the OCF-funded programs and initiatives.
